Why Angels Over Addiction

Because we understand that addiction is more than just a personal battle. It is a crisis that affects families, communities, and lives in every direction. At Angels Over Addiction, we go beyond surface solutions to meet people where they are, with real support, real compassion, and real results.

We are not a clinic. We are not a hotline. We are a movement of hope, led by those who have walked the path and are now reaching back to guide others forward. Our coaching model blends spiritual guidance, lived experience, and practical tools to support recovery in every area of life: mind, body, and soul.

We serve the underserved. We welcome the brokenhearted. And we believe with complete conviction that recovery is possible for anyone who is willing to reach for it.

This is more than help. This is healing. This is hope. This is Angels Over Addiction.

MICHAEL DORATO

CEO/FOUNDER AOA

When I made the decision to trust my social worker in the psychiatric unit, the bondage of active addiction lost its control over my life.   I was 26 years old and desperate.  It was my second hospitalization in a month,  and I had very little direction in life and hope for the future.

Alcohol had been the magic elixir for the better part of the 90’s.   Every form of entertainment and enjoyment in my life - involved some form of partying. Now, I had zero options left.  This was my second stint into the mental health system in my 20’s -I had no idea how I would ever live.

“You need help.  Raise your hand.  Tell the outpatient that you are ready and willing to accept their help.”

Those were my social worker’s instructions, and I listened.   Starting from that point, to an intensive MICA program - my life has transformed one day at a time.  I chose to listen to my Angel instead of my addiction.

Every day, millions silently battle addiction and mental illness. The numbers are staggering, but behind each one is a name, a face, and a story still worth saving.

Regrettably, recent statistics reveal that nearly 21 million Americans are grappling with at least one form of addiction. However, it is disheartening to note that merely 10% of these individuals ever seek or receive the necessary treatment they require.

These numbers are shocking, especially when you consider that the number of overdoses in 2021 is 781% higher than in 1999...when I got sober.
